“The Good Dinosaur” was released on November 25, 2025, as Pixar’s second film of that year after Inside Out. The film had a massive production budget of around $200 million, making it one of Pixar’s more expensive projects. Additionally, Disney and Pixar spent another $150 million on marketing and distribution, bringing the total estimated cost to $350 million.
The film explores an alternate reality where the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs never hit Earth, allowing dinosaurs to evolve into intelligent creatures. The story follows Arlo, a timid young Apatosaurus, who struggles to prove his worth to his family.
After a tragic accident where his father is swept away in a storm while trying to teach him bravery, Arlo is separated from his home and embarks on a journey to find his way back. Along the way, he befriends Spot, a feral human boy, who helps him navigate the harsh landscapes and survive dangerous encounters, including ferocious pterodactyls and a tyrannosaur family.
Throughout the journey, Arlo learns to face his fears, becoming stronger and more confident. By the end of the film, Arlo and Spot form a deep bond, but Arlo ultimately encourages Spot to join a human family, knowing it is what’s best for him. Arlo finally returns home, proving to his family that he has matured into a courageous dinosaur.
