Stuart Little 2 (2025)
Back to “Stuart Little” (1999) is a family-friendly live-action/CGI-animated film directed by Rob Minkoff. It is based on E.B. White’s 1945 children’s book of the same name. The story follows a small, anthropomorphic mouse named Stuart Little, voiced by Michael J. Fox, who is adopted by the Little family in New York City.
The movie begins with the Little family—Fredrick (Hugh Laurie), Eleanor (Geena Davis), and their son George (Jonathan Lipnicki)—deciding to adopt a child from an orphanage. Instead of a typical human child, they end up bringing home Stuart, a talking mouse who is initially viewed with skepticism by the family, especially by George. Stuart, despite his small size, is determined to fit into his new family and prove his worth, even though he faces prejudice and challenges due to his being a mouse in a world designed for humans.
The plot follows Stuart as he tries to navigate life in the human world. He faces various comedic situations, including trying to drive a car, dealing with a troublesome cat named Snowbell (voiced by Nathan Lane), and proving his courage and intelligence. The film also explores themes of family, acceptance, and love.
The film mixes live-action and computer-generated imagery (CGI) to bring Stuart to life and create a whimsical atmosphere. It was well-received for its heartwarming message, charming performances, and innovative special effects. Stuart Little’s adventure continues in sequels, expanding on his relationship with the Little family and his efforts to prove that, no matter his size, he belongs.
